Prototype!

I just had to share a prototype of a new product I will be making. I have seen some very fun diaper changing pads and burp cloths that have chenille on one side of them. I just happen to have TONS of chenille, so I thought that I could make some to match my bags! The one I made could be used as either one. It measures 13"x17 1/2". Plus, I sewed a tie on one side so it would stay neatly in the bag! Anyway, like I said, this is just a prototype, but check back soon, I will be refining and making more! Let me know what you think!

I just had to put a picture of a bag I recently made that has a solid, dark bottom! A friend of mine had said how it would be nice to have a dark bottom to hide the dirt. I agree! So, this is another option for the bags.

I just had to share with you all some beautiful Amy Butler fabrics that I recently used! Aren't they cool blues?! I like them! I have some other fabrics that I will be using too (just trying to get through Christmas and the orders already made for now!). I'm hoping to make up a bunch of different bags and list them on Etsy. I'll let you know when that's up and running!!

Tomorrow (well, tonight at midnight!) is the kick-off of hopefully our last fundraiser to raise the rest to be able to accept the referral of our baby (who could be born any time!!) Our Adoption ~ One Last Fundraiser!

As some of you might know, the reason I started sewing these bags was to help raise money for our adoption of a baby in Taiwan. Well, I'm happy to say that we are almost there!!! I will not stop sewing these fun bags, I've loved it! But I wanted to share with everyone our last big fundraiser to help us raise the remaining amount we need! (Plus, if you've wanted one of my bags, I will be giving away two of them in this fundraiser...plus lots of other COOL items!!!)

I have copied all the information about our fundraiser and posted it below. It will be Monday-Wednesday (Sept. 28th-30th). Please pass the word to everyone! We know that God will provide, but the more people that know, the more people He can use to give this baby a forever family!! Thanks so much for reading!!

"Africa" Bag!

Recently, I had a couple of my friends suggest that I should do a bag that had the outline of Africa on it. One of the friends has adopted a gorgeous little princess from Ethiopia. So they were definitely the "inspiration" for this bag!

After putting some thought into it, this is what I came up with! This is the small handbag and is approximately 7 1/2" high, 11" wide and 3 1/2" deep. It has a pocket that is about 5" tall and extends the length of the bag with four separate divided pockets. It also has a snap closer and wooden handles.

The price of this bag is a little more than the regular Small Handbag, since the Batik fabric and the wooden handles are a bit more expensive. I am selling this for $45.00.

Another Fun Bag!!

Here's a picture of a bag I finished last night with more Amy Butler fabric!! Such fun fabric! It was fun too to use the wooden handles! That was the first time I'd done that! I love them!

Remember, check back, there's tons of ideas floating around in my head...I just need to find the time (between trying to finish adoption paperwork, homeschooling my kids, getting our house back on the market, and next week my friend and her six kids coming for a visit!). But I will find the time somewhere here in the next month to get some of these ideas made up to show you all!

Some Fun Things!!

I just wanted share some recent bags I've made for people! They were so fun! The top one was for a friend that wanted fun, springy fabrics but also wanted a picture of her beautiful family on it as well. The black and white picture was not working for me at all with those fun fabrics! So I decided to tint it with red (which actually turned out kind of a pink, which was the perfect color!). It turned out pretty cute!

The next bag was shipped to WI. She wanted to support our adoption efforts by purchasing a bag and didn't necessarily want a picture on it, but wanted some fun fabric with blues/greens/browns. It also turned out so cute (I might even make myself one! It was fun!)

The third one I have shown is made out of the popular Joel Dewberry fabrics! If you know what Joel Dewberry fabrics are, you know they are all fun and funky!

I am currently working on another small handbag that is also made from Amy Butler fabrics, in pinks/golds/browns (along with a few other fun colors!) that will have a fun wooden handle. I have tons of the other ideas in my head for other fun bags, so definitely keep checking with me! I will let you all know what I'm up to!

The big thing I am working on right now is trying to start an Etsy store! I have a bit more (actually, a LOT more to do!) to do before I can have that up and running, but keep checking back! I will for sure announce it here!

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know what I'm up to with Denice's Creations!

Further Explaination of Bags...

I thought I would try to have one post that gives an example of the main bags I am making right now. These are the different sizes and patterns/styles of the "Handbags and Tote" that I am making. All of these versions can be made in any of these sizes. The flags and pictures are printed directly on to the fabric, so they are also a fabric square. When ordering one, you will need to contact me, and I will send you directions for emailing me a picture (if you are purchasing a "Portrait Bag".) If you have any questions on anything, please don't hesitate to email me!! For more detailed descriptions and sizes, please refer to the individual entry for each of these bags.

This is the Large Tote, made in the "Patriotic Bag" version.

This is an example of the Small Handbag, done in the "Portrait Bag" version. As you can see, you can pick ANY picture, even of your pets! ;-)

This is yet another example of the "Portrait Bag", with the picture printed in sepia tones. The size of this bag is the Medium Handbag, and is the most popular size.

This is the favorite bag among adoptive families! It is the "Flag Bag" and this particular bag is also in the Medium Handbag size. If you have adopted, you can request the flag of the country you have adopted from and show that you are proud of your child's heritage! If you have adopted more than once, from different countries, I can certainly put more than one flag on the bag (each flag after the first one is $5.00 each.)

I just have to take a moment here and thank my friend Kim, another adoptive Mom that put so much time and effort into helping me create this site!! We even have opposite tastes (I hate symmetry, she breaks out in hives if it's NOT symmetrical!!! LOL!!!) I can't tell you how many times I would go back to her and say, "well, how about a little more on the left, and how about you change this." I felt horrible!! :-) But in the end it turned out exactly how I had in mind!! She did a fabulous job!

~ Flag Bag ~

This is the bag that is near and dear to my heart!! It is for all of you adoptive parents out there that want to support and celebrate adoption! Proudly display your child's heritage, whether international or domestic! And spread awareness about adoption at the same time!

The flags on either side of this particular bag represent Taiwan (where we are currently adopting from) and Kazakhstan (where we adopted our beautiful daughter from). Since this is my "prototype" bag, the flags will now actually be framed with one of the fabrics of the bag, not plain white (I will post a picture of one as soon as I can!). You can pick any country that you have adopted from, I will put it on the bag!

The adoption bags can be made in the Small Handbag, Medium Handbag (which is what is pictured) or the Large Tote styles. One flag is included in the price of the bag, each additional flag is $5.00.

All flag and portrait picture squares are actual fabric.

~ Medium Handbag ~

This is our most popular size! Extremely versatile, can be used as a regular handbag with lots of room, a diaper bag or even used to carry your older child's necessities with you! It measures approximately 11" high, 14" wide and 5 1/2" deep. This attractive quilted bag comes with a continuous pocket around the inside, with lots of compartments, so everything has its place! Magnetic snap closure. Handles measure approximately 10" high.

Again, this is an example of our popular "Portrait Bag" done with a sepia picture and browns and tans. The portrait can be of anyone or anything! You pick the picture!
One picture is included in the price, and additional pictures can be added for $5.00 each.

~ Small Handbag ~

This bag is so cute and great for holding the necessities! It measures approximately
7 1/2" high, 11" wide and 3 1/2" deep. It has one small interior pocket, which is approximately 4 1/2" wide x 5" tall. Great for your cell phone! Magnetic snap closure. The straps are about 10" high.
Price ~ $35.00

This is also an example of the "Portrait Bag". The picture can be done in color, black and white or sepia. Black and white and color pictures look the best on a black and white bag.

~ Large Tote Bag ~

The picture doesn't do this bag justice! It's HUGE!!! It would be great to carry everything for a family outing to the beach or lake! It measures approximately 13" high, 17" wide and 10" deep! The sides have magnetic snaps to pull the sides in. Magnetic snap used to close at the top as well. Two large pockets inside, approximately 11" wide x 9" high, help to organize your smaller items. This bag is so big, you can fit a child in it! LOL!! (See picture below!) Price ~ $69.00

This bag is also an example of the "Patriotic Bag", done in red, white and blue, with an American Flag on one of the squares.
